Pet ID Cards

DVM Manager has the capability to retrieve email addresses for your clients in order to send client communication materials. To do this, you will need a Marketing Module search available thru our DVM Manager website.

To download the file, simply right click on the .dsd file name below and left click on copy. Then right click anywhere on a blank spot on your PC desktop and left click on paste. The file is very small and should take less than a minute to download.

Once you have downloaded the file, you will need to make it available thru your Marketing Module list. To import a downloaded marketing module request, please refer to the "Import Marketing Module Searches" document.

After obtaining the email addresses from your database; you can copy them into your email editor and attach whatever type of client communication you wish.  If you have any questions about using this Marketing Module search, please call DVM Manager Customer Support at (800)827-2243.

Dear Valued Customers:

As many of you know, we have been working diligently to make DVM Manager compatible with the Microsoft Windows Vista operating system. We are very close to having this availability and are Beta testing with several clinics at this time.

For those of you who are considering replacing your existing hardware with new computers, we wanted to make sure you are aware of the minimum specification we will be selling and supporting where Vista is concerned.  Microsoft Vista comes in several different versions, with different functionality and capabilities.  They are: Home Basic, Home Premium, Business, Enterprise and Ultimate.

Until further advised, the ONLY version of Vista we will recommend and support is Vista Business.  All other versions of Vista are geared toward use in a home office or home environment and we recommend business class equipment for your practice.  If you choose to load DVM Manager on anything other than Vista Business, we will not support nor assist with trouble shooting DVM Manager related issues as these other versions are not fully capable of running our program the way it was designed.

The minimum hardware specifications will be provided to you as we move closer to the DVM Manager 4.7 release date and after completion of the Beta testing period.

DVM Manager is currently building a new process for Field Manager transfers. When using the new process, transfers will be automated and virtually seamless. The reason for this early notification is to advise you of requirement changes that will be necessary to use the new automated system.

This new Field Manager transfer system will require a full version of Microsoft’s SQL Server 2005 or greater. If you are running SQL 7, SQL 2000 or MSDE on your server, your import process will remain the same as it is today. It is the tools available in SQL Server 2005 allow this new process to take place. You will still be allowed to run 2005 Express (Microsoft’s free version of SQL Server) on your field units but a full version of SQL Server will be required on your server. Again, any other version of SQL will allow the Field Manager transfers to perform as they currently do but will not allow transfers to utilize technology in SQL Server 2005 or greater.

One other change will require your field unit to be on the network with your server. This can be a remote connection that does not require the field unit to be in the clinic. If you have SQL Server 2005 or greater and your field unit is on the network with the server; the new import process will update the server and field unit simultaneously.

The current field transfer process locks tables on the server, making data entry while conducting the transfer process appear languid. Technology involved with the new system no longer require file locking, allowing the freedom for rapid data entry during the transfer process.

Dear valued customer:

More than 10 clinics have reported a problem with a report referred to as the “Search Transactions” report. All of these clinics have SQL 2005 Express loaded on their server. A CD with a Dvmmgr.exe will be forwarded to all affected clinics which addresses this issue. Chances are if you were going to experience this issue, you would have already noticed it. This information is a proactive measure to ensure you are not unnecessarily burdened.

What is a major characteristic of this issue?
Clinics that experience this issue will see the wrong client displayed while generating a “Search Transactions” report.

How can I tell if I have the problem?
From the DVM Manager main screen go to any client, click on Search then Transactions then select any date range to populate the report. Does the client you are currently viewing show up on the report? If yes, you don’t have the problem and this CD can be stored in a safe place along with your DVM 4.6 install CD.

If the wrong client shows up, call DVM Support (800-827-2243) and we’ll help you load the new exe on all your machines. It’s not an update, just an executable so it should only take a few minutes to load per computer.

How can I fix this issue?
Either uninstall and reinstall SQL 2005 Express (a one hour process). Or load this executable (a one minute process).

Can I load this executable even if I don’t have the issue?
Sure, give us a call and we’ll help. You don’t have to but you can if you want.

Again, if you were to experience this problem chances are you would already have noticed it. This is a proactive measure to keep our customers informed of known issues and how to avoid them.
